Cuccinelli: Policy Should Benefit Americans

A CBS reporter suggested to USCIS acting director Ken Cuccinelli that the rule to bar immigrants who are likely to need welfare is at odds with the words of the Emma Lazarus poem: “Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” Mass immigration advocates commonly quote these lines to manipulate emotion and prevent reasonable discussion of immigration policy. These advocates never offer sympathy to huddled masses of Americans who are tired of losing their country to mass immigration.

To the reporter’s question Cuccinelli replied, “I’ll drive it home with a sledgehammer here: America’s immigration system is first and foremost, for the benefit of America. Period.”
