Critics of the proposed Senate amnesty say that by rewarding lawbreaking we simply will encourage more foreigners to break our immigration laws. They also maintain that broken promises in the past to enhance enforcement should make us skeptical of amnesty advocates’ claims today that they will support immigration law enforcement after passage of amnesty.
