California Bills Target Private Business to Protect Illegals

California Democrats are expanding their efforts to resist President Trump’s crackdown on illegal aliens with bills to prohibit private business cooperation with federal immigration officers.  Democrats in control of state government have already limited police cooperation with immigration authorities and promised more taxpayer-paid services to illegals. 

Two bills are advancing in the state Assembly: one would bar landlords from disclosing tenants’ immigration status or reporting them to immigration officials; a second bill would prohibit employers from letting immigration agents come into worksites or view employee files without a warrant or subpoena.

Both bills are sponsored by Democrat Assemblyman David Chiu of San Francisco.
