CA Utility Replaces Americans with Foreign Workers

Southern California Edison has laid off approximately 400 American information technology (IT) workers and replaced them with foreign workers brought in under the H-1B visa program. Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) said this action by the utility was “deeply disturbing.” Immigration promoters commonly claim that a “shortage” of American IT workers makes it necessary for U.S. employers to hire foreigners.
