In his State of the Union Address, President Trump reaffirmed his proposal to grant amnesty to 1.8 million illegal aliens in exchange for a reduction of chain migration and other reforms. Breitbart News published a “Fact Check” article which maintains that this figure would only set the stage for a much larger number, perhaps as many as 4.5 million. This projection is based on the history of the 1986 amnesty when many more illegal aliens got amnesty than the number originally proposed.
