The radical-left American Civil Liberties has sued the Trump Administration for its “expedited removal” asylum policy. The administration affirms the traditional standards of asylum, admission on the basis of a “credible fear” of persecution on the basis of race, religion, nationality, social group, or political opinion. The ACLU wants asylum include people seeking to flee high crime rates and domestic violence. Critics maintain that this expansion would dilute the concept and meaning of asylum.
