Borders Aren’t Contemptible

More Misinformation from the Media:

The speech Trump delivered . . . Thursday in Warsaw’s Krasinki Square might have been appropriate when Britannia ruled the waves. . . . It had nothing useful to say about today’s interconnected world in which goods, people, and ideas have contempt for borders.

Trump said: “We must work together to confront forces, whether they come from inside or out, from the South or the East, that threaten over time to undermine these values and to erase the bonds of culture, faith and tradition that make us who we are. . . . We write symphonies. We pursue innovation. We celebrate our ancient heroes, embrace our timeless traditions and customs, and always seek to explore and discover brand-new frontiers.”

That’s what I mean about a little learning. If the president read a few history books, he’d know that for most of the last 2,000 years, China and India were the world’s leading economic powers, and Europe was a relatively primitive backwater. He’d know that Europe rose to dominance not by erecting walls, but by opening itself to the rest of the world – its resources, products and people. – In His Puzzling speech in Poland, Trump Addressed an Alternate World, Eugene Robinson, realclearpolitics.com, 7/7/17

Fact Check: This article is typical of mass immigration propaganda. It makes the reasonable point that the movement of goods, people and ideas is often beneficial, but then it goes on to claim such movement is always good, regardless of the scale or level. This is like saying that because a limited intake of wine is good for one’ health, that binge drinking of whiskey is healthy as well.

Is the unchecked movement of non-Western peoples across Western borders beneficial to the West? President Trump doesn’t think so. In his speech to the Poles, the president asked, “Do we have enough respect for our citizens to protect our borders? Do we have the courage to preserve our civilization in the face of those who want to subvert and destroy it?

Trump apparently made this statement because he appreciates the heritage of the West, both in Europe and our country. Robinson, in a fashion so typical of our media elites, tries to belittle it. If he believes that Europe was a “backwater” for most of the past 2,000 years, it is he who needs to read some history books.

If he did so, he would learn of such primitive backwaters as the Greco-Roman civilization, the High Middle Ages, and the Renaissance. To be sure, China and India have their achievements, but neither can match the spirit of creativity and innovation that so typify the West. And neither has ever come close to conceiving and implementing the Western concepts of law and personal liberties.

More reading of history would reveal to Robinson that Europe’s rise to dominance did in fact require walls, numerous and well-fortified walls. The reason was unrelenting Islamic aggression which lasted for a thousand years. In the course of this onslaught, Muslims overran large parts of Europe and on several occasions were on the brink of taking the whole continent. If that had happened, Europe would have become the cultural backwater that so much of the Muslim world is today.

Unfortunately, the Muslim surge against Europe has begun again. This time it’s in the form of mass migration. And unlike the past, a number of treacherous European governments are assisting the takeover, a leading example being the Merkel regime in Germany.

The Polish government, however, is loyal to its people and heritage, something President Trump seems to understand and appreciate. As a consequence, he comes under fire from Western globalists who shun loyalty to their countries and civilization. Their media hirelings find borders “contemptible” because borders constrain their bosses’ international pursuit of profits and power.
